Radoslav Beres, Business Development Director for Utility
We beat competition with technology
You have been with the company for almost 13 years. Which of your beginnings in this business do you like to remember?
I was hired by the company in 1997 as employee number 19. At the time I was told that I will be the last hired employee, since the company wants to fit into the characteristics of a "small business", which was at the time limited by 19 employees as maximum. Of course, YMS Group did not manage to stay a small business. Only in Trnava YMS these days employs around 40 people. For us, too, it became clear that if we want to be successful and prosper for a long time, we must grow. If we only stuck around as a small business, in time we would have been swallowed by another, more ravenous company.
Which one of the large company projects made you sweat the most?
It was definitely yPipe, our flagship product developed for gas and oil companies. yPipe makes complex calculations to evaluate a variety of risks on pipelines, models potential dangers along with their consequences and offers solutions. Especially its complexity was the reason for it taking almost two years to finish and rotating and changing project managers. But our effort was well spent. Apart from yPipe working very well for the company eustream, last year it received a lot of interest during the world gas conference in Buenos Aires in Argentina. Eustream management presented this solution and received very positive feedback. yPipe thus belongs to top products for managing pipeline integrity PIMS (PIMS - Pipeline Integrity Management System).
You lead the division of utilities, which has a lot to offer to the utility sector. What would you like to highlight? Anything particularly outstanding that you are proud of?
Our recent mantra is technological innovation. We focus on less solutions in top quality. Right now I am most pleased with the yForce solution aimed at managing mobile workforce. yForce brings new quality to companies in terms of customer orientation, which is mostly possible with new mobile technology. Employees working outside the office are always online, in connection with the company and with clients. Services provided by such "connected" technicians or salespeople moved up several levels. Forget about the always ringing phone or a laptop with tasks on the knee. yForce is like an iphone loaded with company data, which allows top-notch approach to clients. Moreover, using modern (drag and drop) technologies, dispatchers manage their mobile workforce easily by moving their tasks with one finger on a large digital screen. We managed to make a technological jump, with which we outran our competition providing similar solutions.
