Advantages of Content Management?
What is a difference between Content Management and an ordinary server-based dictionary where documents are located?
- significantly higher security – access to documents is granted to authorized user only;
- representation of a document is possible without the program in which it was created, and which is often rather complicated and costly - such as AutoCAD, Microstation, Coreldraw etc. A Content Management System needs only an Internet browser or a simple browser for more complicated formats. In particular, our systems use Eroiica. But the use of the original program is still possible as an alternative;
- a document is accurately described by its attributes;
- the system supports fulltext searches over documents and their attributes;
- the system enables optional addition of annotations and notes to a document, while also the original form can be retained;
- the system incorporates also document version management, including attributes, annotations and notes;
- full workflow in incorporated;
- protection against damage – a document can be edited by a single user at a time, while it remains available to others for reading only;
- integrability with MS Office;
- integrability with MS Exchange (CM e-mails) and other systems (Lotus Notes);
- video stream processing;
- documents can be saved on different media (disk, type drive, flash memory);
- document obsoleteness – automatic transfer of documents with older validity dates according to a predefined archiving policy to archive media with lower operating costs;
Currently, our company supports IBM’s Content Management System employing Library Server, Resource Manager, Websphere Application Server, and Information Integrator for Content components.Older solutions support Intergraph’s AIM system.
