TAIEX workshop with YMS Group
A workshop on supporting the implementation of the Framework Directive on Water (2000/60/ES) in Turkey was held in Ankara under the auspices of the European Commission and the TAIEX Programme (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange) in the beginning of June.
This workshop belongs to the many activities, which are being held as part of Turkey’s EU pre-accession process. The main aim of the workshop was to explore the possibilities for using geographic information systems in coding waterways.
More than 50 representatives from all Turkish regions, as well as foreign experts from France, Austria, Bulgaria and Slovakia participated in the workshop. Slovakia was represented by one of YMS Group’s experts, who summarised his many years of experience in the field of water management in two presentations.
Slovakia and YMS Group demonstrated that making a link between the tradition of water management in Slovakia and modern information technology is the right direction towards protecting one of the most important resources – water.
