YMS Group’s solutions friendly to environment
Three customers of YMS Group presented their solutions during this year’s Enviro-i-forum, a specialised forum on information technology for the environment, held at the Technical university of Zvolen in the beginning of June. Through their presentations, YMS Group indirectly contributed to one of the most important professional debates on information technology and environment in Slovakia.
Slovak Water Management Company (SWMC) presented its mobile technical information system. This system monitors the flood situation in Slovakia in real time. If there is a significant change in the flood level, a text message is sent automatically to SWMC employees or mayors of local cities and villages who might be affected by this change. The Piešťany branch of the SWMC tested the system in a pilot project. Success of the pilot opened the doors to other branches, which implemented the system early this year.
Military Forests and Estates of Slovakia (MFES) presented their practical specialised applications for foresters attached to GIS. The Pliešovce branch of the MFES is a pioneer in using state-of-the-art forest technologies linked to GIS systems. These systems make it easier to work with information and keep on top of many daily activities. Moreover, they help manage the organisation more effectively, since there is an electronic record of each piece of wood that is being handled or processed.
Slovak Cave Administration (SCA) presented a solution developed especially for the Key Tasks Plan, which is mandatory for all organisations reporting to the Ministry of Environment. State Office of Nature Preservation, which was the first to implement this solution, benefits from a faster and more comprehensive preparation of the Plan and its budget. The system allows for easy monitoring of the Plan and automates a number of activities, including production of a variety of reports for the Ministry.
The Enviro-i-forum conference was traditionally held under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, the Slovak Agency for Environment and the Technical university in Zvolen. Conference participants include professional publics such as representatives of state administration, local government, research institutions, universities, information technology producers and end users. Enviroforum has also become the annual forum for sharing progress in all-european environmental information and technology projects.
